So I've been talking a lot about what I do at work, but I haven't really mentioned what I do on my weekends! I'll give a little breakdown on all the fun stuff I've done!

Saturday
*NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT LIKE GREEN, PLEASE SKIP THIS SECTION.
I decided to go on the Skyline on Saturday, which is a gondola that goes over the rainforest! It was really beautiful.
On the ride, you could stop at different rainforest stations and walk around the boardwalks and take pictures. I was basically dying. Rainforests are so beautiful! Especially when you are right in the middle of it. It's such a wonderful feeling to feel so close to nature.
So I frolicked around the rainforest for a while, taking lots of pictures of pure green-ness and saw a really beautiful waterfall. I think it was called the barren falls.
It was pretty spectacular. However, since I was alone, I had to take a lot of Facebook-like photos. I felt like a FOREVER ALONE. Since everyone either had friends or a significant other. oh well.
However, as I was riding the gondola, very high off the rainforest floor, my gondola stopped. So I'm sitting in a random gondola by myself really high of the ground and it stopped and rocked a little. I was pretty sure I was going to die up there. Haha I was making my last minute prayers :P It felt like 10 minutes but I'm sure it was only like 3 mins if even that.
Luckily, it started moving again and the last stop was Kuranda!
Kuranda is a small rainforest town. It's pretty touristy, but still fun. It had shops, restaurants, and animal places like Koala Garden, Butterfly Sanctuary, ect,. It was pretty large, when I got off the Skyline it said it was X amount of meters or km to get the to market place. Which, of course, I don't really know how far that is... But people said it was like a 15-20 minute walk. So I start walking to look at the shops. After like 9 or so minutes I see some shops! I was like, wow that was a lot quicker than I thought. So I dawdled around the stores for a while, most of them were really touristy stuff I could get in town until my Newport senses started tingling.
So I somehow ended up in this nice Opal jewelry store. So Werid.
Australia is known for their opals apparently, and I wanted a nicer souvenir that would last longer than a hat or shirt that I might lose or get ruined.
The store was really nice in a sense that they had a large range of prices for the opals from $30 - $3000+. So I wandered around the store and quickly found my cheaper section :P The lady helped me look at the different opals. There were two main types, a white/light opal and a dark blue opal. Both were really beautiful. I started looking at the cheaper necklaces. They were really pretty but a little too small for my frame. They didn't really stand out on my neck, so I asked to look at the earrings since I wearing earrings more anyways. So I basically tried like 80% of the cheaper opal earrings and the lady was nice enough to help me out. The dark opals are really beautiful, but they just didn't go as well with my skin tone as the lighter/whiter ones so that helped narrow it down. I had my eyes on this one that kinda looked like flowers with diamonds on the outside and an opal in the center but I tried on a bunch of other ones. Then the lady and I decided that we both liked the flower on the best on me. She was like, "Yeah you usually end up with the one you gravitated to first!". AANNNDDD everything in the store was 20% off! :D (So I didn't break the bank too bad ;) ) I usually not an impulse buyer. I'll usually look around to many stores then come back to the one I like the best. But for whatever reason, I connected with my opal earrings and I just had to get them. And I love them c: They are so pretty, the opal is kinda light white/green mixture. She said it looked good with my eyes and such. So I was pretty excited. And the best part was, I walked around the rest of the day looking at all the opals stores and I still liked mine the best and I got the best deal! Nice to follow your guts. It also matches the lovely opal ring my mom lets me wear at home.
So very content with my purchase, I walked farther down and found another set of shops. Then I started to wonder if this was the marketplace they were talking about. So I frolicked around there for a little while but, again, it had a lot of the same things that I wasn't too into. I did end up with this pretty pearl ring for only $5. Very successful shopping day for me! Then I walked up the street more and saw another set of shops. Then the road broke up and to the right there was a marketplace and in front of me there was a marketplace. I still have no idea what they were referring the "Marketplace". Whateves man. So I walked the hell around these marketplaces and got really sleepy, so I sat down and ate my lunch in this lovely park area and just relaxed for a while. It was the perfect day. Barely any clouds and not too hot with a slight breeze. I was very content.
A little later, after lunch, Charlie met up with me in Kuranda. We decided to check out the butterfly sanctuary! It was so cool. It was a huge, indoor garden with like a million butterflies flying EVERYWHERE. I felt like I was in the secret garden or something. Australia has some really beautiful butterflies like the Ulysses butterfly and the Cairns Birdwing. We then walked down to see where they keep the pupae and baby caterpillars. I wish I was a better photographer, I can't do this place any justice at all. I even took a video and it wasn't very good :/ Sorry I can't share how awesome it was to you guys :(

After that, we went to this reptile house that was really disappointing. It was really small and sketch. Definitely not worth the money at all :/ But I did get some cool pictures holding a python. I have no idea why little dogs are used as accessories when you have snakes. They make way better, dynamic jewelry than a little, annoying dog. But I digress.

We then walked through the koala garden for a little while before I had to catch the train back. We went through really fast so we only had time to play with the kangaroos. It was nice to have a photographer to document all my animal interactions :P

I then said goodbye to Charlie and took the train home. I was quite tired so I wasn't feeling the train as much as I think I would have. It went really slow and I felt like I was on the train at Knotts Berry Farm that does the "mine tour".
I kinda just wanted to zone out and listen to music. However, on the train ride, they would give you historical facts about the train/railroad and Cairns. Since I spent money on it I kinda felt like I had to listen to it even if I wasn't that interested at that exact moment. I felt like, if I didn't listen I would miss something way cool and life changing. Obviously I find my life purpose on a random train.
So it was quite a lovely day. I had loads of fun and new jewelry. Not too shabby ;)
